Mandalay’s Myanmar Green Land Farm (Green Beans Unroasted)

This fully washed coffee was grown by the Greenland Plantation in the Mandalay region of Myanmar at 1,200 meters above sea level. This unique lot has notes of green apple and pomegranate with notes of walnut and a honey-like sweetness.
Green Land Estate, in the village of Thet Kan, was established in 1999 with 30 acres of the Catimor T-8667 coffee variety. Every year since then, the estate has grown by 20 to 30 acres and is now the largest estate in the district of Pyin Oo Lwin, in the Mandalay region.
Today, more than 600,000 coffee trees grow on 450 acres. The specific varieties of T8667 and SL-34 grow in the shade of Silver Oak and Macadamia trees.
The estate’s goal for 2018 was to replace most of its Catimor T-8667 trees with new varieties such as Gesha, Catuai (red and yellow), Mondo Novo, Bourbon (yellow), Catimor P88 and Catigua, in order to produce higher-quality specialty coffees and increase productivity in the future.
These new varieties are being grown on separate plots and are receiving special attention by staff members on the estate.
Green Land has earned awards for Outstanding Coffee Growing from the Myanmar Ministry of Agriculture, and in 2016 and 2017 it won first and second place in the Myanmar Cupping Competition.
